Park People

We are now listed on Park People's list of park groups in the city of Toronto.  Check out their great website: www.parkpeople.ca

Lots of good feedback at the meeting last night. Thanks to all who attended or sent feedback via email.

Lovely morning light in the park

Now that school is back on, there's more traffic through the park and more litter.

It's September...

Thank you to all those who attended our meeting with Parks Staff and Councillor Palacio last night. There was a lot discussed, and here's the scoop:
  • We will get a community garden at Roseneath Park! Cedar box containers will be installed on the south side of the park, as per our proposal. They will be built over the winter and set up for spring 2013 planting. An ornamental perrenial garden will be installed on the north boundary to beautify the park and also to protect children in the park from the traffic on Glenhurst Ave.
  • The city will provide most of the materials and perrenial plants required. The group will undertake some fundraising to purchase a storage shed and some other materials.
  • Playground improvements that can be done in the short term include either shading the sandbox or replacing the sandbox with one new play apparatus.
  • A community notice board will be installed.
  • Roseneath Park is now being looked at for future "capital projects," meaning more expensive, long term projects such as reducing the berm, fixing the retaining wall, and purchasing new playground equipment. We will continue to work with city staff as they look at these future projects to improve the park.
  • Lighting on the west side of the park will be improved.
  • The Robina speed hump petition has been delivered to Cesar Palacio. A traffic study will be conducted as part of the next step.
  • The Glenhurst speed bump still needs a petition.

At this point, the Parks Dept. needs some feedback from the group - such as plant and playground preferences. Let's meet on Tuesday September 25, 6:30 p.m. so I can record your preferences. I'll also put together an email survey for those who can't attend.
