Things are Growing...

What a great turn out to our annual planting night yesterday!

We accomplished a lot!  You can see a city of Toronto tent in the background where Erin Glover from AFCY was surveying folks about their ideas for the mosaic.  The Roseneath gardeners were busy weeding, planting, watering and mulching.  Thanks to the city Parks department, the park grass was reseeded, the mulch delivered, and shrubs pulled out giving us two new flower beds on the sides of the path.
There's still plenty of room, so if you have extra plants that are not invasive, please share!

A summer watering schedule will be posted soon.  We are looking for volunteers to water the park through the summer.  Email roseneath@hotmail.ca if you can commit to a week or two.

Calling all Gardeners, Neighbours and Artists

Monday May 26, 6:30 p.m at Roseneath Park...
we'll be gathering for our annual planting meet up (annuals and perennials are both welcome!).
Bring your trimmings, gloves and spades to the park to garden with your neighbours and help make Roseneath a better park.  We are looking for ground cover plants, small and medium sized perennials especially.  Native, low maintenance plants are ideal.

City staff will be at the park on Monday to hear your input.  Here's another chance to tell them what you want.
Arts for Children and Youth needs your ideas for the mosaic mural project that is slated to be installed this summer.  Do you have a great theme idea for the mosaic?  Tell us!

Finally, a generous neighbour has left some infant toys at the park for younger park patrons to enjoy.  The toys have been labelled and we hope they will remain at the park through the season.

There's sunshine in the forecast; we hope to see you on Monday!

And just like that...IT'S SPRING!

Hello friends,

The park looked fantastic after our annual community clean up and I suspect we got a little anonymous help from another group who did a "pre-clean up" before the Friends of Roseneath Park came out on that Saturday morning.  What a pleasant surprise!
With the warmer weather, the park is seeing more use, so I'd like to extend a thank you to those who are lending a hand to keep the park free of litter on an ongoing basis.

There is a lot of exciting news to share!  A meeting has been set to gather your creative ideas for the mural project headed by Arts for Children and Youth.  Please make an effort to attend - the information is in the flyer below:

Using your ideas collected at this meeting, AFCY will be putting together a draft design for the mural and setting up tile making workshops in a local school and library and at the park.  These workshops will be free and open to local children and youth.  Please look for postings about these upcoming workshops in the summer!

Also, with Victoria Day gardening weekend coming up, remember to save your split perennials for the park.  Needless to say, not all our plants survived the winter and we have some bald spots to fill in the park flower beds.  We'll be doing our spring planting soon.  Stay tuned!
