Compost Day at Roseneath Park

Just a reminder that compost will be available in the park this afternoon 5-8 p.m.  
Friends of Roseneath will be on hand getting part of our community garden started.

For a long time, our sand area has been an underused, shallow pit...

...full of weeds.

That all changed this morning!  Our sand area is ready for summer.  Bring on the diggers, buckets and children!

A Great Start

Kudos, Jakob!

Well, our group has existed for over a year now.  We've had many meeting and are hopeful we will see improvements made in the park.  However, progress is slow.  We may not see big changes for years yet.  
So let's do what we can.  Jakob has gotten started.  He began by creating flowerbeds on the hillside that is usually strewn with garbage.  Here is a photo of the humble beginnings.  Better yet, take a walk and see it for yourself.  He has also requested donations of soil and plants from local businesses such as No Frills. 
A meeting will be scheduled soon to see who is interested in maintaining the flowerbeds and contributing what they can to the community garden.
