April Fools

So when they said "Polar Vortex" in the forecast, did you think it was an April Fool's joke too?

The snow is sure to melt away soon and plans are in the works for the 2016 season. The Friends of Roseneath Park will once again participate in the city's annual Community Clean Up which is scheduled for Saturday April 23 at 10 a.m. Please join us to lend a helping hand and tell us what you'd like to see at Roseneath Park this season.
See you at the park!

Change of Seasons

The blowing snow yesterday was just a hint of what's ahead. But we had another great season at Roseneath Park.
Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who made the park a better place this year. Thank you for weeding, picking up litter, and watering our new trees. And thank you to our local artists and Arts for Children and Youth for our shed and mural, which will help us to continue our stewardship of the park next year.

The toys will stay out as long as there is play-outside-type weather. Enjoy it while it lasts!

August 2015

The results of AFCY's garden shed program are just beautiful! You can see the finished product yourself when you pass through the park, and here are some shots of the young, talented artists at work.

Participation in the program was excellent.  The artists met at Oakwood Village Library daily and walked to the park to work on the mural.  Thank you to all the artists, the Oakwood Village Library, City of Toronto,Weston Foundation and especially Arts for Children and Youth!

We can now store our tools and hose at the park, which will make it so much easier to look after our ever expanding flower beds.
We hope you are enjoying summer in the park!

Stuff Happening in July

Our garden shed from Armtec has arrived!  Wally, the friendly installer, arrived on Tuesday July 7th, and made the drop single-handedly onto the concrete bed prepared by the Parks department.  Caitlin from AFCY was also on hand for the event.
The shed is made to last, but it's not very pretty, so if you know anyone age 6-12, be sure to sign them up for the beautification project Arts for Children and Youth has set up at Oakwood Village Library.

We also received a surprise donation of plants from the No Frills garden centre on Monday.  Thanks, No Frills!
To top off a great week, we got some perfectly timed rain on Tuesday so that our new additions could adjust to their new beds.

Wally makes the drop as Caitlin and I document.

Thank you Armtec!  Also thanks to Parks, Forestry and Recreation and Arts for Children and Youth!
